Welcome to Music Matters
Music is a world within itself,
Music Matters is an Irish arts and health organisation, founded by Gráinne O’ Grady.
We are a not for profit organisation.
The first inclusive community choirs for people with additional needs were established by Music Matters in 2012.
Now, Music Matters runs choirs, youth arts projects, orchestras, music lessons, hip hop and rap workshops, for many different groups across Ireland. We specialize in community arts, including community music.
What is Community Music?
Community Music is a sub-discipline of community arts.
The underpinning philosophy is:
Projects can be established in the community or in services. We run music groups in schools, nursing homes, residential facilities, hospitals, youth groups, corporate settings, LGBT services, family groups…anywhere where there’s a voice or a beat!

KBC Award given to Music Matters for its NO LIMITS! Project
On 27th September, Music Matters was awarded €2000 by KBC as part of the KBC Bright Idea Awards.
The Bright Ideas fund set up by KBC supports people who have a Bright Idea that can help improve their community.
Music Matters was awarded the €2000 for NO LIMITS!, a project for young people and adults with physical or intellectual disabilities where they are learning about all the elements of hip hop.
We are hoping to start a NO LIMITS intergenerational hip hop & rap project to also include older people, kids, families, people of all generations.
LIMITLESS, a new spin off to this project that involves hip hop & rap and focuses on mental health, is set to begin in October.
This is a project that can be tailored to the needs of any group, service or community and brought to you! Check out www.musicmatters.ie
