Music Matters @ SJOG - Carmona
WEDNESDAYS: ST. JOHN OF GOD’S CARMONA CHOIR: SILCHESTER ROAD, GLENAGEARY, 2PM-3PM
St John of God’s Carmona Community Choir was established by Music Matters’ director Gráinne O’ Grady and psychologist & staff member in St. John of God’s Carmona services, Lucinda Ramsay, in September 2014. Since then, this choir has been a major success and continues to go from strength to strength.
This choir includes people with and without intellectual disabilities, sensory disabilities, mental health difficulties, physical disabilities and learning difficulties, who love music and want to sing in a group. We particularly welcome any service users from any of the St. John of God’s services.
We welcome young people and adults of all ages and abilities, without any restrictions.
This choir rehearsal takes place every Wednesday 2pm – 3pm in Glenageary, Co. Dublin. It is a great way for service users to meet their friends and take part in an enjoyable activity.
We encourage anyone who plays a musical instrument to bring this along and accompany our singing! We have lots of percussion instruments available to play along with the rhythm while singing the songs.
Payments to SJOG Staff for SJOG Service Users. For non-SJOG service users the membership fee is €8 per rehearsal, payable to Music Matters. Please contact us to set up a direct debit or to arrange payments through cheque or online bank transfer
Address: St Paul's Church, 31 Silchester Road, Glenageary, Co.Dublin
SJOG - Carmona Membership
This choir is open to service users from all of the St. John of God’s services and centres; we generally ask a staff member or family member to accompany any groups larger than three people, and to stay for rehearsals.
This choir is also open to service users from other organisations outside of of St. John of God’s, once accompanied by a staff or family member, for insurance and health & safety purposes. In recent times, we have been delighted to make connections with and welcome choir members from lots of other disability support services.
When you sign up as a choir member, you will be asked to fill out a form, so that we have all of your contact details including name, phone number, e-mail address, postal address and emergency contact details. This means that we can contact both yourself and a family or staff member to let you all know about any updates, closures and events.
This form will also ask you whether or not you are happy for your photo and video from the choirs to be used online. It shows a green thumbs up sign, to say yes you are happy and consent for your photo and videos of you to be used online on Music Matters’ website, Facebook, etc. It also shows a red thumbs down sign, meaning no you do not want to have your photo or video used. You can choose which one to tick. It may be a good idea to discuss this with a family member, staff member, or someone from Music Matters.
The form can be downloaded by printing this form, and returning it to us filled out. Please bring your completed form along to your first choir rehearsal.
We Always LOVE to Hear From YOU!
